What is it? 

Pixiclip is an online canvas that lets you communicate using sketches, webcam and/or a mic. Pixiclip is you message in motion. It is free online resource! There are no agreements to accept and no downloading required to use this tool. Essentially Pixiclip is an interactive whiteboard and a great tool to use in a classroom. 

Privacy Policy 

The first page is accessible to the privacy policy of the tool. By clicking privacy Pixiclip states that they respect your privacy and explain how they do so in the next window that will pop up. Pixiclip discusses that the website will save detail including IP addresses, time of visit etc. The privacy policy also ensures that your email will not be sold to anyone. The privacy options also allows you to create private pixiclip establishing more control over cookies and how they can be used to track your visit. 

How to use it? 

Pixiclip is an interactive whiteboard that allows you to doodle using markers, pencil and text. The doodle images allows for you to explain your thinking, stories etc. You can also add in images and record your voice by using the mic tool. There is also a tool to use the webcam and incorporate it into your doodle. Once you have created your doodle you can save your doodle and view it as a video where it shows you movements of the writing instrument used. If you included images or voices it will also playback so you can see the whole video as you made it. It also allows you to share your pixiclip via e-mail or social media (twitter, facebook etc).

Benefits
It is beneficial because it allows you to express your learning visually using "doodling" and your auditory skills using the mic. It allows you to collaborate your learning in participatory culture as well it allows you be a creator of meaning not media allowing you to become a teacher. Finally, it allows you to own your story!    

How you could use it in a classroom?
It emphasizes on student collaboration and allows them to become the teacher and take responsibility for their learning. Pixiclip is also great in a classroom because it can appeal to a variety learning types. It is also engaging for students, with the majority of students, being visual learners it becomes a great instructional tool for differentiated learning.

According to Educause Learning Initiative Digital storytelling can be defined as the combination of narrative with digital content and the potential be instructional, persuasive and/ or historical. Pixiclip can contribute to digital storytelling because the interactive whiteboard allows your to illustrate what your are saying at the same time.
